Internet users love the words “file downloading”, which simply means the receipt of data from an outside source or the transfer of data. The earnings of iTunes in early 2011 amounted to more than $1.1 billion. Music downloads can lead to a lot of online revenues considering the fact that this is the most popular file choice. This is precisely why there are culprits that make illegal music downloads. Today, paid music downloads are encoded with DRM or Digital Right Management. It is an access-control technology that limits the use of any digital content or technology. When it comes to DRM, it is mainly used for technology that is rightfully owned. Most of the time, technology has an intended purpose and this is why there is such a thing as DRM that is applied most of the time. This includes the use of passwords, certificates and age verification. For AOL and other similar companies, something like DRM is very important as this assists them in protecting their products from infringement. Online, there are several websites that do not have a download function. People that visit YouTube know that they can only watch streaming videos on the site and not download any content whatsoever. Digital content can still be obtained from the site but YouTube will not be liable for any illegal offering since what they provide people is a method of receiving and saving content. Across the globe, YouTube is a household name. YouTube is actually one of the three main Internet companies. The two other names are Google and Facebook. If there receiving of data electronically obtained, this is file downloading. This is different from streaming or copying. Content that is downloaded becomes the permanent property of the person who obtained the file while streaming only gives you a temporary pass to use specific content.
