Are You Confussed by Which Music Game to Buy?
This has always been a tough decision to have to make ever since the likes of Rock Band game Guitar Hero World Tour came along, which music game is right for you? Now this decision is becoming even harder because both gaming companies are releasing even more games, so here’s a post to explain the range of games you can get on the next-gen consoles.
Guitar Hero 2 is where I’ll begin because this is the first game to be released onto the next generation gaming consoles. Although this one is a good game, it only has the guitar career available so this one is not recommended for a beginner. I would recommend this game if you are a fan of the classic songs like Free Bird.
Guitar Hero 3 is available on the PS3 and the Xbox 360 and this is the next one on the list. Guitar Hero 3 is just like Guitar Hero 2 really, it’s very good, however, only the guitar is available. However, I believe that this game has the best song line up so this is a must have for a Guitar Hero fan.
The next one up is Guitar Hero Aerosmith, however, I will also include Guitar Hero Metallica in this one because they are both band based. Because of what I just wrote, these games are not ideal for beginners because you don’t get that wide array of songs like in the other games. Unless you are a fan of Guitar Hero and a fan of the band, I don’t think they are worth buying.
Guitar Hero World Tour, now, this one was very popular because it was the first game to come with the full range of instruments, drums, guitar, mic and bass. However, I don’t think that it comes with a good set list. It’s full of old, cheesy songs which are good for a family play, but not really solo.
Guitar Hero Greatest Hits is the next game, but it’s also the latest released. In my opinion this game has to be the best for a beginner music game player or for a family game. I believe this because the song list is built up from the best songs from Guitar Hero 1,2,3, 80′s and Aerosmith. This means that you get the greatest songs to play, plus you get to play them with the full range of instruments.
Now onto Rock Band, the competitor. The first game that was released was Rock Band 1, this game was amazingly good because it featured a massive set list as well as the introduction of new instruments. The game was very good beside the guitar controllers that they made, they were pretty terrbile. However, with the release of Rock Band 2 I wouldn’t buy Rock Band 1 as the first game because Rock Band 2 comes with an equally great set list but it comes with added bonuses that the first game doesn’t. Also, if you buy Rock Band 2, if you buy the original, you can put all those songs onto the Rock Band 2 game.
The only downside to Rock Band 2 is that you currently can’t buy the Rock Band 2 instruments in Europe that come with improved drums. I must note though because these instruments are being released later this year with the release of The Beatles: Rock Band.
That’s not all though, Rock Band also has very good amount of songs that you can download. They have hundreds of songs available for download which are compatible with all the Rock Band games so you can continuously build up a greater song list.
However, is Rock Band an ideal game for beginners? I would say no, however, it has to be the best game for any experienced player because it has a hugely expandable set list with new songs being released for download almost every week.
As for the best game for beginners, I would have to say Guitar Hero Greatest Hits, just make sure you get all the instruments to get the most out of the game.
