Music Beat Makers Let You Abandon Your Band by Case Collins
I abandoned my band for music beat makers.
For fifteen years I dreamed of starting my own band. Not for the success that comes from playing in a truly talented band, but because music has always been at the center of my soul.
Over time, I taught myself enough to make a handful of guitar-based songs, and I could sing well enough to infuse my songs with decent vocals. Most importantly, I had fun.
The problem was that I could never find people who shared my passion for playing music. Sure, friends would occasionally stop by and pick up the bass guitar in the corner, but none of these “jam sessions” ever went further, because nobody really cared about the final product.
So, I continued playing alone, constantly searching for a better way to transform the beats and melodies in my mind into full-bodied, multi-track music productions.
That’s when I discovered digital music beat makers. Suddenly, I had a new way to get the music out of my mind and into my own songs without the need for a supporting band. Digital music sequencers and samplers have finally allowed me to create and produce music at the levels and quality I dreamt about for so long.
From professional quality mixes to private brainstorming sessions; digital audio workstations are the single-greatest components I had ever added to my personal music collection. Now I can make music on my schedule, in my own way. Free and clear of the fear and worry. Just straightforward sounds, samples, scores and songs.
Best of all, digital music makers eliminated the need for me to rely on other people, which gave me the freedom to create music as often as I wanted and exactly the way I wanted it to sound.
Through the years, I have researched dozens of competing software applications, and I have purchased several in hopes of finding the one application that can keep up with my passion for music creation.
While each product shared some similar features, all of them worked a bit differently. Some were too simple to produce the professional beats I had in mind. Some were just too complicated for me to understand the technology (I didn’t want to learn a whole programming language – I just wanted to make music). Some were clearly “cheap.” Others were way too expensive.
Today, I focus on the products that are easy to use, but which have enough features to keep my beats fresh and original. I also stick to applications that produce the the highest sound quality.
I’m not famous. I’m certainly not rich; but I am thrilled to be able to make my own music every day of my life. And digital audio workstations are what make this passion possible.
