Welcome - Original 1999 Sponsorship Letter
Dear Sponsor,
Thank you for your time. This letter is inspired by my numerous conversations with the Mayor's Office, the Landmarks Preservation Society, my architects at Environ, and the many project participants. It is intended to update and interest you on my efforts in preserving a landmark building from demolition by moving it to the Jackson Boulevard Historic District.
My family has purchased the decaying, historic single family structure at 1706 West Jackson from the City, and we will move the house to 1529 West Adams by 12-10-98. This structure requires major renovation work, and due to its width, requires two lots on Adams for relocation. Streets & Sanitation is donating their services during the move, and Mid-City National, ComEd, Kuumba Construction, and others are providing financial cooperation and contribution during the process, with coordination from preservationist Vicki Granicki and Environ, Inc.
Alderman Walter Burnett, Jr., The Chicago Sun Times, the National Cable Show, "Before and After", and many other organizations and individuals approve of this plan and support our urban renewal project to reside in this house. Please find included some drawings from architect, John Nelson @ Environ, that should give you an idea of the home's proposed restoration scope as well as the Historic Documentation.
Since restoration of this home will be extremely costly, as well as the significant scope and notoriety associated with moving this 520 ton structure early December, might you and your colleagues be interested in donating products, services or items for "sponsorship" to help with this newsworthy project, in return for the "press" that will be generated? For instance, Mid-City Bank, Ameritech's Security-Linc, Truserv, Krengel & Associates, Kuumba Construction, Environ, Child's Movers, and Jan's Antiques will be hanging signs on the house as it rolls down the streets for the PR value of local and national news coverage. The House & Garden Cable TV Channel Show, "Before and After" will also produce a 1/2 hour Documentary with video and scrolling credits.
More directly, therefore, would you or any of the organizations you know or represent like to be selected to create (develop) a websight, provide fixtures, or design a bathroom, kitchen, ballroom, home office, floorcovering, landscaping the yard, etc. for the PR if you could in turn use the created space for seminars, in-store videos, have my chamber music group perform for a party, etc.?
I would be honored to continue discussing this "Adams Family" project with you by inviting you to the house for a "look" at your convenience. Click here, keithhooper.com/fireworksmusic for more information about CD music for barter with your own architectural interests!
Sincerely,
Keith Hooper
