Treat Your Partner to a Romantic Meal–At Home
No matter what sort of dedicated pairing you’re part of–no matter if it is a new marriage, you have three kids or no kids, boyfriend and girlfriend or a gay relationship–chances are that you are both too busy to make enough time for each other. We always have more things to do than we have time in which to do them. Has it always been this way, or is it a function of contemporary life?
Unfortunately, one of the first things to get postponed “until there is enough time” is intimate time with our significant others. We fool ourselves into believing that we’ll suddenly find more time once this project at work is completed. Or we hope that we won’t be as busy once little Sarah’s soccer season is finally done. We soon find ourselves wondering whether our relationship has become lifeless. Maybe, we think, this happens to all couples after they have been together for a while. Even if it does, that is no excuse. Nothing, no project at work, no “to do” list at your home should become more important to you than your partner–at least not every time that a choice has to be made.
Here are some tips for a perfect, unique, intimate evening staying at your own home.
Choose a night to send the children and pets off to Grandma’s (or a neighbor’s house)
Select some music that you both agree upon
Unplug all telephones, computers and any other devices that could distract you from your special mission
Send for a chef prepared, gourmet meal to be delivered from an online merchant–one that requires almost no work on your part but stills tastes as if it’s from a four star restaurant
Purchase a bottle of your favorite wine or, better yet, a stimulating mixture of fresh fruit juices
Hide your cars so nobody can guess that you are home
Close all curtains
Turn off the lights
Light some mildly scented candles
Eat slowly
Take plenty of time to talk about one another in hushed tones
Listen attentively
End your dining experience with a small piece of gourmet turtle cheesecake and a glass of dessert wine or cup of coffee
Worry about your diet tomorrow
Don’t do the dishes, at least not until morning
Extinguish some candles
Don’t go to the bedroom
See if you can think of something that relaxes you–in a stimulating manner
Oh, yeah. Say the three magic words
Go through the whole process after a month. You will still be busy, but you won’t mind as much if you take some quality time for yourselves at home.
