Great singers such as Whitney Houston, Johnny Mathis, Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion and Mariah Carey to name a few, have left the modern circuit and a new pop culture has immerged with singers like Lady Gaga, and Kesha. Modern pop music has drastically changed over the course of the last two years not only in presentation on stage, but the content of the song aiming at the new generation with a sexual content. Is this our future?
Pop music consisted of silly, fun music or sweet beautiful music years back involving dancing and just having good time. Today that is not the case. It went from bubble gum music to being able to sing and say almost anything you want in the song with very little restrictions. Brittany Spears played a big role in pop music changing in the 90′s as did Madonna and Michael Jackson in the 80′s. Every ten years the music evolves into a new form and new styles. Music has a way of identifying who we are and can change your life and how you feel. It can release happiness and sorry and can get you out of a mood you were in or help you through it. Music plays a big role in our lives.
Technology can manipulate music of today creating new sounds like never before. Lady Gaga brought a unique spin on the music industry has created a style and presence that no one has ever seen before. From the creating of the music to the way she sings the song to the outfits that represents the songs, Lady Gaga is in a class all by herself. Pop music of today is definitely Lady Gaga who is a free spirit depicting the word freedom. Her new innovative ideas in music and creativity with that techno sounds are unique in their own right.
Bruno Mars with his sweet tones is a little bit of fresh air however in each song there is a sense of sexuality in one form or another. He brings a variety of styles to his genre. With a bit of a reggae sound and sometimes darker subject music content, he is changing music of today singing in an imaginative new way along with new distinctive videos.
Ke$ha, another controversial entertainer with her messy hair and unpolished style on stage attracts the young generation. She has a dirty type of look wearing vintage clothing and is larger than life with her sleazy style. Ke$ha incorporates a party girl rapping style and is breaking away from the crowd entertaining our young generation.
